2016 Mexican National Team U.S. Tour
The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) today announced that Copa America defending champion Chile will face Mexico in the upcoming Mexican National Team U.S. Tour game on Wednesday, June 1 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif.
Presented by Allstate Insurance Company, the Mexico v. Chile match will kick off at 7:00 PM PT. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, March 29 (10 AM PT) via Ticketmaster, by visiting www.TicketMaster.com or calling 1-800-653-8000.

2016 San Diego County Fair

Ending the Season with Hindemith and Britten
David Chase conducts chorus and orchestra in the season finale, an inspired pairing of works by two European masters who came to the U.S. at the beginning of WWII. Featured is Paul Hindemith’s moving setting of Walt Whitman’s elegy for Abraham Lincoln, When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d: a Requiem for those we love, considered to be his finest work. Mezzo-soprano Janelle DeStefano and baritone David Chase solo. The program begins with Benjamin Britten’s American Overture composed in 1941 for the Cleveland Orchestra.

Van Go! Soap Box Competition & Steam Festival
The idea for Van Go took root one day when Danny Moceri of Filippi’s Pizza Grotto and Lou Palestini (both former students of Washington Elementary School) were reminiscing to the current school principal Mr. Crum about their childhood memories of racing home made soapbox cars down Fir Street while their friends kept watch on the street corners for oncoming cars.
